A Key to Understanding How Your Brain Functions

As a key part of our integrative treatment approach, we use Quantative Electroencephalography (QEEG) to monitor and analyze brain function and activity in different areas of the brain.

QEEG, also known as brain mapping, is an objective and effective tool that uses digital technology to measure electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp which primarily reflect cortical activity, or brainwaves.

A multi-electrode recording of brainwave activity is made under different conditions (eyes closed, eyes open, and during cognitive challenges such as reading and arithmetic) and converted into numbers by a computer. The digital data is statistically analyzed and compared to a normative database, giving us an individualized baseline. The analyzed EEG is converted into color maps of brain functioning called brain maps that are used to guide treatment.

QEEG Brain Mapping gives insight into brain function noninvasively and in only a few hours.

QEEG testing supplies a window to view dynamic changes throughout the brain.

Individualized comparisons allow our treatment team to determine whether or not brain functioning is abnormal, to what degree, in what locations, and in which frequency band. QEEG gives us the ability to view dynamic changes taking place throughout the brain at rest and during cognitive processing tasks, and can assist us in determining which areas of the brain are engaged and processing efficiently.

QEEG literally maps areas of brain dysfunction and problems.

  • Addiction
  • Attention deficit disorder (ADD / ADHD)
  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
